Microsoft known for Office 365 has begun to distribute the completely redeveloped Notepad for Windows 11 to all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.
Redmond initially announced the brand-new app design in June this year with screenshots given before the official launch to demonstrate Windows 11’s modifications to the interface of native applications.
Microsoft known for Microsoft teams also shared a brief video clip that provides a better look at forthcoming enhancements, such as user experience upgrades.
“First and foremost, you can recognize a completely updated UI which coincides with Windows 11’s unique graphic design, such as rounded corners, Mica, and much more,” said Grochocki, Microsoft’s Principal Program Manager Lead for Windows Inbox Applications, on Tuesday.
“Notepad prioritizes efficiency, quality, and dependability. We will make sure that Notepad keeps on succeeding within these aspects, irrespective of how you integrate it into your workflows.”
The find and replace user interface was also completely redesigned inside the latest Notepad version, and assistance for multi-level undo was introduced, which was among the most requested features by Insiders.
The revised Notepad now includes a dark mode. While Notepad will be using the existing OS-wide theme preferences, users can change to the latest dark theme manually from the application’s Settings menu.
Nevertheless, the tech giant is still working on smoothing out all the flaws and correcting errors related to scrolling and input language switching.
“There are indeed a number of known problems in the prerelease version we are going to release on whom we will be discussing in future releases,” Dave Grochocki stated.
“This involves problems with keyboard access keys while trying to switch among various input languages or when using Japanese IME, except that under certain conditions, users may realize unusual activity when using shift-click to choose text or scrolling.”
Microsoft is also improving performance when trying to open big files with the latest Notepad application.
Those who choose to make suggestions on the new and improved Notepad experience can do so via the Feedback Hub (under Apps > Notepad).
